Camp Kesher Day 3

Happy Tuesday! Today was filled with unique activities and new programming. The morning started as usual with bunk and cabin activities (the baking/cooking club made banana cake and soup for the whole camp)! In the afternoon, we utilized the large and open campus here at Black Lake. We brought in a local paintball company who led exciting games between the divisions. At first some of the younger campers seemed apprehensive but as soon as they tried it, they really enjoyed. The campers emerged full of paint as well as smiles. The games were thrilling and fun was had by all.

At night, we announced a new program – our Big Sister/Little Sister, Big Brother/ Little Brother program.” The younger campers were paired up with the older ones in order to create a more conducive environment to building a kesher (connection) as much as possible. The first part of the program included a rapid-fire question and answer questions/get to know you game, followed by cupcake wars and then night swim and open gym.  The day ended with happy campers ready for bed. We’re looking forward to another amazing day tomorrow!

Day 2

What a whirlwind of a day. The campers are all settled and transitioning smoothly from activity to activity. They started their bunk activity rotations which includes boating, archery, rock climbing, team building, mini golf, disc golf and sports.

At night we had our first all camp bonfire. We roasted s’mores, taught our camp song and heard a story from the camp Director, Meira Spivak. She spoke about how she hopes we will all walk out of camp prouder Jews!

The campers went to sleep tired and well fed. Until next time!

Camp Kesher has begun!

It was a terrific first day of camp. Campers travelled across four states just to join us at Camp Kesher. Everyone arrived safely and are excited for all the fun activities we have planned. Tonight, we introduced our staff, showed them the newest NCSY music video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sASoTiMANRs) and told them about our exciting “club activities.” Campers picked their top choices for three different clubs – and it wasn’t easy with such a big selection! Club options included: All around Sports, Chmasa Art, Improv, Basketball, Cooking/Baking, Harmonica, Crayon Art, Knitting/Friendship Bracelets, Woodworking, Nature and Survival, Water activities, Shabbat Carnival and Canvas Painting. Wow! You probably wouldn’t have an easy time selecting either.

The bunk are all getting to know each other! Tomorrow is filled with a variety of activities and campers will get to explore the campus. We can’t wait to see more smiling faces.
